BB – 4 WHAT DID GOD DO FOR THE WORLD?

Lesson #4
This Lesson Is Not So Much About What God Did For You Individually, But What He Did For The Entire World, Which Included You.

Romans 5:1-9
[Christ is for us]Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.  3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.  5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. 6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.  7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.  8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
The World Was In Great Darkness: Sin Separated Us From God.

Genesis 3:8
And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

We Were Powerless To Do Anything About It.

Romans 5:6
For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

We Were Guilty By Birth.

Romans 5:12
Therefore, just as through one-man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned--

THE WORLD WAS IN A GREAT DILEMMA

God’s Law Was Death For Lawbreakers; But There Was A Remedy.

A.    There Was Forgiveness For Breaking The Law If The Lawbreaker Was Killed And His Blood Was Shed.  The Law Says There Can Be No Forgiveness Without The Shedding Of Blood.
B.     In The Old Testament, Bulls And Goats Were Killed For The Sins Of The People But Their Blood Only Covered The Sin.
C.     The Sacrifice Must Be Sinless, Pure And Acceptable To God The Father.  Animals Were Sinless But They Had Not Sinned, The Price Must Be Paid By Someone Of A Higher Nature. Really, Since Mankind Had Sinned, Mankind Must Pay The Ultimate Price.

Exodus 12:3
Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: 'On the tenth day of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household.

We Were Sinners And Had
No Way
To Receive Forgiveness. If We Sinned, We Would Die And By Birth We Were Sinners.

Hebrews 9:22
And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission

Ezekiel 18:4
"Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die.

A SACRIFICE WAS REQUIRED; A SACRIFICE THAT ONLY GOD COULD PROVIDE

Only A Sinless Man Can Redeem Us.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,

John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

· Jesus shed his own blood.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

· We became justified.*

* Definition: To declare free of blame; absolve. 3. Theology. To free (a human being) of the guilt and penalty attached to grievous sin. Used only of God. [To make just - by faith, by shed blood]

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Romans 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

· How do you know that Jesus’ death and shed blood was enough? Answer: God raised Him from the dead. He became the first born of many brothers.

Romans 8:29 (NKJV) 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Romans 4:25 who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.

1 Peter 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,

· Jesus’ death on the cross is an act of God’s love toward each of us.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Philip. 3:7-9 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
