MAKING YOUR JUDGMENT SOUND

Judge Not, That You Be Not Judged.
Matthew 7:1-2 (NKJV)
1 "Judge not, that you be not judged.
2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

1 Corinthians 4:1 (NKJV)
1 Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.

1 Corinthians 4:5 (NKJV)
5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one's praise will come from God.

1 Corinthians 6:1-6 (NKJV)
1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?
2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
3 Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?
4 If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge?
5 I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren?
6 But brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers!
·        Turn From Evil
·        Try Spiritual Gifts
Exercising Sound Judgment
·        The Functions Of The Mind Facilitate The Exercises Of Our Judgment
·        It Concerns The Process By Which We Discern Of Revaluate, It The Way We Form Opinions And Make Decision.
What Does It Mean To Judge? The Bible Refers To Human Judgment In Several Different Ways.
·        A Judgement Of Condemnation
·        A Judgement Of Self-Examination
·        A Judgement Of Discernment
·        A Judgement Of Evaluation
·        A Judgement Of Corrective Discipline
A Judgement Of Condemnation
·        Jesus Told Us Not To Do This Type Of Judging
·        When We Participate In This Kind Of Judgement, We Are Condemning Our Selves.
A Judgement Of Self-Examination
·        What We Must Do Is Judge Ourselves And Bring Correction To Ourselves.
A Judgement Of Discernment
·        We exhorted to turn away from what is evil and to imitate what I good.
·        How can we do this unless we distinguish between the two?
·        Another aspect of discerning judgment is: when a spiritual gift is operating such as prophecy is operating in the church.
A Judgement Of Evaluation
·        Every Utterance Cannot To Be In-Discriminately Accepted Without Evaluation.
·        Whatever Is Being Said Must Be Weighed And Tested By The Hearers.
The Christian Life Is To Be Guided Continually And Not Just At The Big Decision Only.  Most Of Our Guidance, Including Big Decisions, Does Not Come:
·        From Praying A Special Prayer, And Then Waiting For A Word For God
·        It Comes Through Our Judging Rightly The Will Of God Through The Influence Of The Holy Ghost.
There Is The Judgement Of Corrective Discipline
The Civil Authorities The Government, The Judiciary And The Police:
·        Who Are Appointed By God To Judge; And Punish The Wrongdoing And Decide; The Judgment Of Corrective Discipline
·        WITHIN THE FAMILY, This Is The Role Of The Parents.
·        IN THE CHURCH, This Falls To The Leaders To Whom God Had Given The Responsibility Of Maintaining Good Order And Discipline Within His House
Judging To Condemn
·        Is a widespread and destructive sin it in the professing believes in the church.
Matthew 7:1-2 (NKJV)
1 "Judge not, that you be not judged.
2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.
Jesus Said Do Not Judge
·        Realize this is the one whom is appointed by the father to judge the universe.
John 5:22-23 (NKJV)
22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son,
23 that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
·        No one is better qualified to sit in judgment Jesus yet he did not do it.
John 8:15 (NKJV)
15 You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one.
James 2:12-13 (NKJV)
12 So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty.
13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
·        When We Pass Judgment On One Another In This Way, Without Possessing Of All the Facts And Without The Ability To Search Into Another’s Heart, Our Judgments Are Unrighteous.
Isaiah 11:3-4 (NKJV)
3 His delight is in the fear of the Lord, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears;
4 But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.

John 7:24 (NKJV)
24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."
·        Don’t judge your brother because you don’t know all the facts.  We must leave judging to God’s time and to the one who God has appointed.
1 Corinthians 4:5 (NKJV)
5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one's praise will come from God.

Matthew 7:3-5 (NKJV)
3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?
4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye?
5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
·         Judging Is Described As Condemning A Brother
Luke 6:37 (NKJV)
37 "Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
·        Looking Down On A Brother
Romans 14:10 (NKJV)
10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
·        Slandering Or Speaking Against A Brother
James 4:11 (NKJV)
11 Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.
Discerning Judgement
·         Discerning Judgement Must Not Only Is Concerned With Fact But Also People.  You Must Discern Good From Evil.
Hebrews 5:14 (NKJV)
14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
·         When we Deal with the true from the false we must deal with pe3ople and what people say.
1 Corinthians 10:15 (NKJV)
15 I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say.
·         Imitate what is good.
3 John 1:11 (NKJV)
11 Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.
·         Hold on ot the word that is true
1 Thessalonians 5:21 (NKJV)
21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.
·         I must exercise a discerning judgment as I look and listen.
Discerning Judgement
·         This kind of judgement differs from the other for two reason:
·         because of the purpose behind it
·         and the spirit and attitude with, which it is exercised
·         this gift is called “the Discerning of Spirits”
·         this a gift that gives the ability of distinguish between  the spirit of God and the spirit of the devil
1 Corinthians 12:10 (NKJV)
10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
·         We Are To Test Those Gifts But How Do We Do It?

1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 (NKJV)
20 Do not despise prophecies.
21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.

Isaiah 8:20 (NKJV)
20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
·         An utterance inspired by the Holy Spirit will never contradict what the same Holy Spirit has said in his Word
1 Corinthians 14:3 (NKJV)
3 But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.
·         IF an utterance fails this test it is to be rejected.
Prophesy
·         Does it do the three things for which prophecy is given?  If it seems consistent with Scriptures, reject it.
·         If it brings condemnation, and confusions rather than edification, it’s not right?
Revelation 19:10 (NKJV)
10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."
·         Does it draw attention to Men?
·         Does it draw men closer to Christ
·         Or does it draw attention to the personality  giving the prophecy.
Colossians 3:15 (NKJV)
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
·        Do you have the peace and assurance the Holy Spirit is speaking?
How Do You Judge What Is The Will Of God?
·        Most Christians know the Christian life should be a life guided by God
Romans 8:14 (NKJV)
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
·        What we do not have is built-in powers of self-direction.
Jeremiah 10:23 (NKJV)
23 O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.
·        God led Israel in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
Exodus 13:21 (NKJV)
21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night.
·        Many wait for our guidance through a special word.
·        God was guiding Israel not just at a special cross road but all the time.
·        Therefore it should be the same with us.
·        The promise of Isaiah still stands.
·        However, most of our guidance will come through Human judgment - - influence by the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 58:11 (NKJV)
11 The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
The Renewed Mind
·        Paul says when your mind is renewed you will be able to test and approved what God’s will is – His good , pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
·        We must make every thought captive to make it obedience to Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:5 (NKJV)
5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
·        The meek will be guide in judgement and the meek will he teach is way.
·        In other words, God will guide those who really want his will;
·        Guidance will not necessarily come by a visible sign but by God swaying their judgement.
Psalms 25:9 (NKJV)
9 The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way.
What then are the Keys to Possessing A Sound and Healthy judgment?
1.     We must take great care not to think and speak critically of others.
2.     When we are aware of others; fault, we need to examine our own hearts and make sure we are not seeing a reflection of something in ourselves.
3.     We must have a mind that is well instructed in the truth of God’s Word
4.     We must also have a meek spirit that desires God’s will and in continually sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
