A Renewed Mind
Hebrews 12:1-3 (NIV)
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
TO THINK LIKE JESUS REQUIRES A RENEWED MIND
·        If you consider that Jesus endured you will not become discouraged about your trials and life’s tribulations vs 3
·        As you think within your heart that is who you are.
·        To change yourself you must think different
Romans 12:2 (NIV)
2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

1 Corinthians 14:20 (NIV)
20 Brothers, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults.

Proverbs 23:7 (NIV)
7 for he is the kind of man who is always thinking about the cost. "Eat and drink," he says to you, but his heart is not with you.
IT WORKS LIKE THIS:
·        A THOUGHT becomes an Act.
·        An ACT becomes a Habit. 
·        A HABIT becomes our character.
·        Your CHARACTER produces your Destiny!
FIRST SATAN SOWS DISTRUST IN YOUR MIND ABOUT GOD.
Genesis 3:4-5 (NIV)
4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman.
5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
WHAT THE SCRIPTURES TELL US ABOUT THE MIND OF THE UNVELIEVER.
·        Defiled and Corrupted
Titus 1:15 (NIV)
15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.
·        Blinded by Satan
2 Corinthians 4:4 (NIV)
4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
·        Hostile toward God
Colossians 1:21 (NIV)
21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.
FACTS (THE MIND RENEWED)
·        The gospel appeals to intellect you are not asked to accept the good news blindly; it is both reasonable and logical but men hear but don’t understand.
·        Repenting means rethinking it’s more than just saying I’m sorry but it’s a change of mind, purpose, and actions.
Isaiah 55:7 (NIV)
7 Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

Jeremiah 31:33 (NIV)
33 "This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the Lord. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
·        Shake yourselves,
·        Clear your mind
·        Deal with your mind if you have trained it to think negative things
·        Start Thinking on right and proper things
·        Stop your “stinken thinken”.

IMPURE THOUGHTS
Matthew 5:28 (NIV)
28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
·        This isn’t as bad as the actual act but if you continue to think about lustful things you will actually began to act on those thoughts
·         Nip it in the bud now.
The Eye Gate
·        The eyes are what Satan used to attack us the unclean thoughts   (Potiphar’s wife Gen. 39:7 – King David 2 Samuel 11:2-4)
2 Peter 2:14 (NIV)
14 With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed--an accursed brood!
·        Job solved the problem by setting guard on his eyes.
Job 31:1 (NIV)
1 "I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl.
·        Set a guard on your eyes
ANXIOUS THOUGHTS
Hebrews 2:14 (NIV)
14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death--that is, the devil--
·        Worry is a form of fear that Jesus dealt with on the cross when he dealt with all our sins.  He bought us deliverance from all sin
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
·        Turn you anxieties into prayer until the peace of God takes over.  Indulging in worry is indulging in unbelief, which is sin.
·        Handing your anxieties over to God is acting in faith.
·        God has given us the believer a command.  Be anxious for nothing.
Isaiah 26:3 (NIV)
3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.
Earthbound thoughts
·        We are human beings constantly stimulated by our five senses.
·         We are not to be unconcerned about material things but neither are we to act like unbelievers. 
·        Material things are not sinful. It’s our attitude toward them that may be sinful.
Matthew 6:32-33 (NIV)
32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Philippians 3:18-19 (NIV)
18 For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.
19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things.

1 Timothy 6:17 (NIV)
17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

Colossians 3:2 (NIV)
2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
IT IS NOT ENOUGH JUST TO CLEAR OUR MIND, WE MUST FILL IT WITH SOMETHING
Philippians 4:8 (NIV)
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.
·        Set your mind on things that are above.
Colossians 3:16 (NIV)
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
·        People’s thinking became futile and it darkened their hearts.
Romans 1:21 (NIV)
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.
·        We must become wise to salvation – we know who were are and what he have to battle with.  We will fill our minds with truth.
2 Timothy 3:15 (NIV)
15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
Clearing Our Mind Is Not Enough We must fill it with something.
·        Not like cramming for an exam just filling it with facts. 
·        You can know about God bet we must know Him. 
·        The Holy Spirit will give us an inner understanding or revelations.
Ephesians 1:17-18 (NIV)
17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,
